2006 Men's Tennis Ladder Guide

The initial positions on the ladder are determined through a random draw. New additions will be added at the bottom of the ladder. Players may play as often or as little as they like but the ladder positions will be adjusted each week based on matches played.

Match Opponents - Setting up matches and times are the responsibility of the players on the ladder. Each player on the ladder can challenge players up to 2 positions above them on the ladder. The player that is higher on the ladder gets to choose the court surface but the time and date of the match must be mutually agreed. If you are unable to reach the 2 players above you because of vacations or lack of availability, then you may challenge the 3rd position above you.

Tennis Balls - Each player will show up to the agreed court and time with a new can of balls. One can will be used for play and the second can will give to the winner of the match.

Reporting Scores - All match scores should be reported by the winner to Ken Schaub via eMail. Please report who played, who won and the set scores. All scores should be reported by Monday evening if they are to be included in the ladder adjustments. If you have trouble reporting via email you can call Ken at 474-5030 to report them.

Ladder Positions and Scoring - The initial positions on the ladder are determined through a random draw. New additions will be added at the bottom of the ladder. Players may play as often or as little as they like but the ladder positions will be adjusted each week based on points earned through matches played. The scoring is simple and is geared to reward participation. For each match played a player receives 1 point for playing and 1 point for each set they win. If player A and player B play a match and player B wins in straight sets, then player A earns 1 point and player B earns 3. The ladder is adjusted each week based on the total number of points earned. In the event 2 players have the same number of points, then head to head record is used to determine ladder position. If the tied players have not played each other, then win-loss record is used to break the tie.

Ladder Updates - The ladder positions will be adjusted weekly on Monday evening and posted to the Anderson Hills web site. This Men’s Ladder page can be accessed through the link on the tennis page of the Anderson Hills web site or through a direct link. The ladder will show the players position and will show the player's phone number when the mouse hovers over the names. The names can be clicked to send an eMail to that player.
An eMail notice will be sent to all ladder participants each time the ladder is updated as a reminder.
